Valentine's Day
Claudius II, Emperor of Rome in the 3rd century, had a simple plan to take over the world.  Claudius was having trouble with his plan, because he believed that married men just didnt want to fight as much as single men.  So, Claudius decided to ban marriage.  However, couples continued to fall in love, and one priest named Valentine decided to continue marrying these love birds.  Valentine's lack of support to Claudius' marriage ban was soon well known, and the Emperor had Valentine imprisoned.  The soon to be saint Valentine was ordered to be killed for his unlawful marriage acts, but his history lives on today on February the 14th.  Grotto will be honoring St. Valentine with a 3 course prix-fixe menu for 42 dollars per person.  Please call Grotto at 617-227-3434 to make a reservation.  Marliave will also be open on Valentine's Day and serving their regular menu.

Spaghetti and Meatballs 
Grotto's spaghetti, meatballs, and insanely fabulous tomato sauce has been a signature dish on our mneu since we opened at 37 Bowdoin St, on Beacon Hill over 6 years ago.  The three large house prepared meatballs and the slightly smoke tomato sauce with toothsome spaghetti has been a pasta fix for residents of the Hill and diners since Grotto's early days.  The imported San Marzano tomatoes, garlic, herbs and pancetta help create the insanely fabulous sauce which one of our early patrons named.  Grotto is now offering our spaghetti and meatballs for $12.95 during dinner service every Sunday through Wednesday night.  This special price will continue through March 10th, 201 except for Valentine's Day.  Please call 617-277-3434 to reserve a table for dinner.

Parties, Soirees, Celebrations

Marliave is an ideal location to have your next private event.  Our upstairs bar is perfect for a cocktail reception for up to 50 people or a dinner party with your own private bar.  The upstairs dining room, with views of the city, can accommodate 70 people.  The entire upstairs is a great setting for 100 people with a private bar.  The downstairs dining area with a 22 foot marble bar is also available, and the entire restaurant, featuring three bars, can be used for an event up to 200 people.  Call Marliave at 617.422.0004 and let us help you plan your event.

Cafe at The Marliave
The Cafe at the Marliave, 51 Provence Street, is currently open from 8 am to 12pm Monday through Friday, but the Cafe re-launchis scheduled for late February  The new version of the Cafe at The Marliave will be open Monday through Saturday until 10 pm, abd will feature over 15 artisan cheeses, cured meats and direct trade coffees from around the world press to order.  The cheeses and cured meats will be available by the ounce at the Cafe bar and in the entire restaurant.  Marliave is also sourcing some of the finest chocolate available and creating our house prepared truffles.  Michel Cluizel, Amedei, Valrhona and Taza chocolates are used to create out of this world confections.  The revamped seven seat Cafe is due to open in late February.
